[Motivation]
보통 설명할때 " A는 B를 연상시킨다" 또는 "A는 B같다"처럼 비유법을쓰면 효과적인데, 이것을 영어로 보통 어떻게 쓰는가?
- A reminds us B.
- A is similar to B.
- A seems like B
- A feels like B
라는 표현들이 있지만, 문제는 이것들이 effective하지 않다는것이다. 즉 이런표현을 쓰면 글이 밍밍하다. 이유는:
1번에서는 us 가 상당히 '걸리적' 거린다. A랑 B를 얘기하는데, "우리"를 얘기하는 이유는 뭔가?
2,3,4 번은 표현들은 대화에서 너무 자주쓰이기때문에, 에세이에 쓰기엔 약하다.
이런 표현을 쓰고싶을때, 쓸수 있는 좀더 action-oriented verb가 있으니...
